Stonehenge is about 5000yrs old. These rocks are up to 6m in height and have been brought here from different parts of England. Nobody knows the real story behind them but they have been placed to make shadows happen for each month.

In the picture below....The field behind me is where the most important battle in England ever happen. 7000 men died in one day in this field. It was called the Battle of Hastings and happened in the year1066. William the Conqueror from France defeated the King of England and became the new King of the English. The spot I am standing is exactly where the French retreated during battle and nearly lost their battle. The name of this town is called "Battle". The buildings were built after the battle as a monument to the battle. I ran down the hill and then fell in the mud and got mud all up my jeans!

Inside the Abby at the Battle of Hastings I found a little spot to hide.

This is the ground floor of the Abby where the monks had their recreation room.

This is the ruined Abbey below. It was built over the place where the King of England died in Battle against the French. William the Conqueror built it partly as an apology to God for his side killing so many men in battle and to proclaim his victory.

A few days later we hoped on a big boat with our car and crossed the English Channel to France. The white cliffs behind are called the Cliffs of Dover. If it looks cold, its because it was!!

I was the first one to notice the French shores behind me.

This below is a town hall in a little French village near where we live. Our village is called St Martin sur oust which means St Martin on the river Oust.

  1. Dear Jacob
We hope that the Easter bunny will be good to you. The Battle sounded pretty cool and there would have been lots of blood. Did it still smell like blood? It is finally our last day of Term One. We hope you are having a good time. We will message again next term. Happy Easter!
